As with everything else in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to having comsetic surgery abroad. Let’s start with the disadvantages. The worst aspect to having cosmetic surgery abroad is the element of risk. No surgical procedure, whether performed in the United States or overseas, is 100% risk free. Another disadvantage is the absence of support from friends and family. Recovering from any surgical procedure isn’t much fun, and being surrounded by people you love is a comfort. Furthermore, your only have the day or two before surgery to discuss the procedure with the surgeon, which doesn’t leave much time to plan it. Those that go overseas for plastic surgery should probably do some research beforehand so that they know exactly what they want. The benefits to having cosmetic surgery abroad outweigh the disadvantages. It often costs less to have cosmetic surgery abroad than it does in the United States. You also get to combine the operation with a vacation to an exotic location. You will not have the support of friends and family, but that could be a good thing. It means that nobody need know you have had the procedure done unless you choose to tell them. Some people warn that having cosmetic surgery abroad is risky because it isn’t FDA approved. This attitude shows conceit. In many countries overseas, the standard of proficiency and post operation care is just as good as that in the United States.
